Minutes of the Meeting of Queensland Country Music Festivals
held on Thursday 20 October 2005 at Kedron Wavell Services Club


Meeting commenced at 7.40 p.m.
PRESENT: President - John Dillon (Redlands/Bunya/Isa City), Secretary - Barbara Chester (Townsville/Casino Richmond), Treasurer - Marie Currier (Redlands), Dell Lowien (Garden City/Dalby/Roma), Noelle Wardle (Northern Suburbs), Joyce Green (Redcliffe), Don Chester (Associate member), Paul Wilson, Alan Salmon (Associate member), Kylie Adams (Redcliffe), Paul Spencer (Northern Suburbs), Tracey Bolton (Northern Suburbs), Keyonie Bolton (Junior Rep) - Leisa Bye attended briefly and left.

MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were circularised, Marie Currier moved that the Minutes be accepted a true and correct record, seconded Noelle Wardle CARRIED.
BUSINESS FROM THE MINUTES:
Blue Cards - On the way
Headsets - 5 available
Jim Mitchell Award - Nominations to be submitted and decided tonight
Brisbane City Council Sponsorship - No reply - December 2005 reply expected.
Friday Night Concert - Canned as no headline act has been found. Paul Wilson asked that it be noted that the Judges were disappointed and are interested in the future.
Mayor or representative - Urgent meeting of council has been called and no one available.
Great Southern Land - have agreed to take on Brooke's song
Internet Conferencing - without broadband too expensive
Plants for Venue - $120 to purchase plant - suggested that we purchase and sell after the event.
Armbands have been ordered and delivered.
Victoria Bailey has advised that she will not be attending.
College of Country Music - question regarding this award - it is stated in the rules that it is a separate award.

GENERAL BUSINESS:
Songwriting - Question - How can it certain that the song submitted is the won with at a previous festival.
Dell moved that we change part of the format of the Website and have a list of affiliated Clubs as they pay their fees instead of asterisks against Club names as this is very confusing, seconded Barb CARRIED
Event Final Arrangements
Guitar Stands - John to bring the one from Redlands
Clothing Stands - to go to Paul's after the event
Jim Mitchell Award - vote was taken - plaque to be organised
Armbands - to go to the Treasurer after event
Cashboxes to remain with Treasurer after the event.
Ellaways - banner to be in the centre if possible, signs each side of this would be 101 and Champs if possible.
Raffles- Ellaways have donated an acoustic guitar and Barb has donated a set of BBQ tools.
Paul Wilson moved seconded by Dell that we also raffle a $500 open order at Ellaways.
Ellaways - flyers and vouchers will be on the tables and there will be no sales stand this year.
Shirts - orders taken for chambray shirts with Champs logo
Opening - 5pm Saturday by David Jenkin from Ellaways
Friday setup - from 7-11 p.m., Dinner for Judges 7 - 7.30 p.m.
Meal vouchers - Band & Judges only
Drinks for Band - bottled water, soft drink, Ice - John Dillon to bring esky and ice and organise drinks.
Person to liaise with sound man - Paul Wilson
Security Guard - John Dillon has organised
Paul Spencer - no joy with our grant application - awarding of grants is geographically driven - need to get State Members on side - re-send to local members in your area - email with note regarding the fact that its been in for 18 months
Photos - no stand outside - photos from 2004 on DVD - no photos of winner
Kylie - Helpers for back stage - Alan, Kylie, Sonic, Walter & Lance Coassin, other suggestions Brett Hassall, David Bolton - Kylie to organise.
Smoking Area - restricted due to new regulations - not allowed near entrance to room or top of stairs.
Redlands - OK for ad for programme
Group section to be Sunday morning.
Comperes - definites Stephen Bunz, Laura Downing - Paul has the rest in hand.
Grand Final - all nine judges
Songwriting - Judges Margy Campbell, Michael King and Steven Sparrow
Songwriting Camp - Paul has approached Roger Corbett to conduct a songwriting camp in February 2006 in Toowoomba at Camp Toowoomba - with the prospect of one in NQ later in the year.
Circuit Judges - need to ensure that our Judges are all holders of Blue Cards
Extra Prizes for Champion - Paul has organised 2 performances in NZ for winner, accommodation provided with airfares to be paid by winner.
CMAA - Paul has also requested a 12 month membership for the winner from CMAA
Changes to entry conditions for 2006 - Joyce moved that 1st & 2nd be invited in 2006 therefore making the process of inviting contestants a little easier, seconded Paul Wilson CARRIED
Dell moved that confirmation of membership to be signed off by clubs, seconded Paul Spencer. CARRIED
Joyce Green has a single room available if needed for a judge or someone for the weekend of Champs.
Meeting closed at 9.18 p.m.
