TRSRER’S REPORT:

GENERAL BUSINESS:

Alan – NO

Don Chester – What is the comparison from end result this year to last year. Think about what the problems are – do not rush into change.

Barbara has compiled thoughts from she and Don and others. (Copy attached)

Ian Crook – Resigning as Webmaster – however he will still attend meeting as Rep for West Moreton.

First 24 hrs after Champs finished the site received 70 hits

Ian is happy to handover the current format to new person.

The meeting recorded its thanks to Ian for his work on behalf of Champs.

Paul Wilson – Do away with the Semi Finals – suggestion from both musos and judges

Grand Final – split into three sections

Hughie suggested that if we are not holding a semi final that we start a tad later – may not start earlier as it would be good to be able to finish a little early so that everyone can get home.

Need to have the Club sign off nomination to verify membership as was the case in the past, Paul Wilson moved seconded Tracey Bolton                                                                                             CARRIED

Thank you to all for their help – particular thanks to the back stage crew for keeping things rolling

Band as always were sensational

Contestants still need to be reminded of how the judging system works and the need to read the Rule book.

Judges are chosen according to their Bios or recommendations from others.

Some decisions that were made have been called into question – these were checked with the judges concerned and in all cases they were adamant that this was their choice.

It is important to remember that the scrutineers and committee play no part in any of the decision.

Judging Sheets – Only to be mailed out to those who request and pay.

Tamworth – co-incides with the first week of School for Queensland – Starts January 24th.

Joyce Green – surprised by the Jim Mitchell Award – thank you .

Signs need to be better displayed on stage – projection of sign on curtain. Further discussions with David regarding the signs.

Security Guard was wonderful – has already indicated she is interested for 2006.

Noelle Wardle – Final performance – some comment about some of the people in the final – One contestant did not sing an Australian song.

Barbara Chester – Had an interview with Nikki Gillis – favourable comments on the event – amazed at the venue – fantastic band.

Marie Currier – Congrats to Gabby for her efforts with raffles and Bevin & Marie Lahey also – Marie requested that they be given free entry in 2006

Hughie Curtis – Minor things during the weekend – but no major problems – band had a good time – however contestants need to be reminded that they should provide good Chord Charts – some were written on scrap paper and very difficult to read – which is not fair on the band.

Tracey Bolton & Keyonie Bolton – Comments made to them and their thoughts.

Final – is there a need for semi final

Is mouth organ classed as an instrument (7 instruments on stage)

Festival age cut off should be same as each other – Champs are trying to encourage Clubs to follow recent suggested age groups

Songwriting section for Juniors

Too many guest artists – this was unavoidable as one guest had said they would not be there and had to be slotted in.

Comments by one Compere could have easily influenced the Judges

Any possibility of free tea & coffee

Breanna Gerritsen – Semi final should have had more judges than the sections – good thought but there may not be a semi-final in the future.

Paul Wilson – favours the use of a single score for the judging rather than the breaking down by criteria – suggested as some of the judges are confused with our system.

Meeting closed 9.30 p.m.

Next meeting – 16 February 2006
